I am not the one being naive. We had a stable regime with Iran, a murderous regime, worthy of critique and diplomatic pressure and sanctions, but it was stable and predictable.
Iran was a lot more politically stable than, let’s say, North Korea, where the supreme leader had allegedly murdered his brother, who had zero interest in becoming the supreme leader, with poison at a public international airport.
